I’ve always wanted to start a blog but I guess I needed a push to get me started. That push came when I started a course with Teen Vogue and Parsons School of Design. I never -in a million years- thought I would get a chance to take a course at Parsons School of Design, but then they joined together with Teen Vogue to create an affordable online Fashion course titled Certificate in Fashion Industry Essentials.
Fashion has always been a passion of mine and something I’ve always wanted to study. I want to study Fashion Design in college so this course came at such a great for me. I was looking for a course that would give me that inside information into the Fashion Industry and would look good on college applications.
Ever since I finished my IGCSEs a couple of years ago I’ve been floundering around, lost on what to do next so I was very happy to hear of this new course that Teen Vogue and Parsons are launching and I feel very lucky that I have the opportunity to study it. The flexibility of the online course is perfect for me as I am also taking a Garment Construction and Product Development course at Texda Uganda, it means I can work on the course at my own pace.
The course has interactive elements, videos from Parsons School of Design staff and supplementary reading material from Teen Vogue. Each course has career-focused assignments based on the topics and the lessons learnt will be easily applied to real life with the advice received from Teen Vogue experts and other fashion industry leaders.
At the end you will have a professional fashion portfolio that has been reviewed and evaluated and is ready to be taken to an interview, and you will receive a certificate from both Teen Vogue and Parsons School of Design – a great thing to add to any CV/ Resumé.
I will be doing blog posts as I go through each section of the course and I’ll fill you all in with the details of the coursework, the subject topics, the teachers and anything else I find useful along the way. Follow @teenvogue on Twitter and Instagram and Snapchat for more updates on the course.
